Carnifex -> Tyrant Conversion

The last update from our modelling weekend is my custom built hive tyrant based on the plastic carnifex. To give the idea it's due, this is based on similar models from Warpshadow and Hive Fleet Moloch, except I added a few modifications myself.

I split the carnifex legs at the ankle and both knee joints to give him a more upright approach. Basically I just tilted the parts until they looked approximately right and then filled the spaces with greenstuff.

The torso was more difficult. Even twisting it upwards gave the model a very fat appearance and gave a wierdly thin looking waist. So I decided to follow the example at Hive Fleet Moloch and saw the torso in half along the line of the back armour plates and put the main torso on upside down. At this point I should put in a Health Warning. Sawing in half £25 worth of model is hazardous for your mental stability and may drive you nutty. At this point the back plates were re-attached to the upside down torso using craploads of milliput. When this was dry, the waist was joined to the new torso. In retrospect I should have pinned this but at the time it was accomplished using lots of greenstuff and cutting to fit. I also cut off the front spikes (which were now pointing down and looking silly) and resculpted some armour plates on the front of the torso.

The carnifex head just looks wrong in this pose, so I seperated the neck from the carnifex head and pinned/greenstuffed a new neck. I also had to extend the head to make it look right.

And the finished article:

There is still a little more to do including sculpting the head armour plates and over the waist. I'll show this in a later update.
